Erin – 2017 Owego Free Academy Senior

I’m SO loving this recent senior session with The Camera’s Eye! Erin and I already knew each other since she came to help out with her friend Kelly’s senior session last season. She brought Kelly with her as an assistant to this shoot, and we had SO much fun.

For outfits, she focused on simple and casual – just working with her everyday style!

Even though she is smiley and so much fun, we made sure to make her sports shots intense and serious – because she is COMPETITIVE on the court!

I love it when we can work everything important about a senior into the senior sessionincluding pets! This is Marlie, a Christmas gift to Erin last year. This little bugger would NOT stop moving!

And even though Erin is so intense in these lacrosse shots – you would not believe how hard we all laughed. She had to face into the sun, which meant she could only keep her eyes open for a second at most, and there were tears streaming down her face πŸ™‚

Don’t worry, Erin got us back later – or at least got Kelly back – when she accidentally soaked Kelly while we were getting shots of her throwing water in the air πŸ™‚

A big thanks from The Camera’s Eye to Erin for such a fun senior session around town!

Kate – 2017 Owego Free Academy Senior

Meet Kate, a rising senior at Owego Free Academy!

Kate was looking for something unique with her senior photos, something that captured her personality perfectly. We always stress the importance of being yourself in your senior photos with The Camera’s Eye, so this was a perfect fit!

I knew Kate from doing her cross country photos, so capturing her personality was easy!Β She brought her friend Heidi as an assistant to the shoot, and we had a blast πŸ™‚

Kate chose her outfits to match who she is – her softball uniform was a no-brainer, and she made sure to pick outfits that were dressy enough for senior photos without going outside of who she is.

I loved working with Kate not just because of her personality, but because we also got a chance to shoot up in Ithaca! She wanted something a little different than Owego, and I was excited to travel to make that happen.

A big thank you to Kate for such a fun senior session with The Camera’s Eye!

It makes sense to do family portraits over the summer. Family Photos, The Camera's Eye2

Not only will you have a foreverΒ memory of your family, and the makings of beautiful wall art for your home, but you’ll also have allll the makings for a custom-designed holiday card with The Camera’s Eye. Dress to Impress: Senior Sessions at The Camera’s Eye

During our senior sessions at The Camera’s Eye, I LOVE getting to know you and capturing your personality. And though it’s what’s on the inside that counts, clothing naturally plays an important part of your senior photos, and I get asked a LOT about how to dress…we’ve written about it before, but here are some key tips for this season…

The Camera's Eye,9

The big biggie: be yourself! There’s no use in taking a bunch of senior photos where you don’t wear what you normally wear and you don’t look or feel like yourself πŸ™‚ People should recognize you in what you wear every day.

TheCamera'sEye4

I’m an environmental portrait artist…that means we will be trekking through fields, rivers, over rocks, and through funky terrain….THAT means: wear the comfy shoes, and carry the diva heels! I LOVE great shoes, so save them for when we’re actually shooting and I’ll get them in all their glory:)

The Camera's Eye9
And as far as shoes go…make sure to match the socks if you’re wearing them. There’s nothing worse than white socks BLAZING out from under your pants and stealing the spotlight from your amazing shoes.
The Camera's Eye, Seniors5
This one is from your mother, but it is the #1 clothing retouch requested from your mothers….check for wrinkles in your clothes before you come and HANG your outfits prior.
TheCamerasEye010
Ladies: think about your undergarments!Β  Straps other than the ones holding your shirt or dress up are DISTRACTING from your face.Β Straps distract!
TheCamerasEye, Seniors02
Most of all..SHARE with me… tell me what you’reΒ bringing! Text or SnapchatΒ your clothing choices.Β  I’ll plan around your outfits and it will remind us both to bring props, sporting equipment, locker room keys, jerseys, etc.Β πŸ™‚
Senior photos, The Camera's Eye3
Remember, I’m a professional photographer…whichΒ means I do MOREΒ than just snap theΒ camera. I WANT to work with you before and after our session to get Β the photos you want πŸ™‚ One of the best ways we can collaborate is over Pinterest…check out our senior style and senior photos boards to get pumped for your session!

Summertime Splash Session with Ellie

Since my favorite little 8-month-old is finally sitting up, we decided to do a fun-in-the-sun outdoor shoot with The Camera’s Eye.

The Camera's Eye, Summer portraits

She loves bathtime (and recently learned that she loves pools and the ocean on a trip to Florida), so we figured we would stick her in a bucket and see what happened πŸ™‚

The Camera's Eye, Summer portraits1

We couldn’t have picked a better day – it was the day before Memorial Day, and blazingly hot. Just the right weather for cooling off in a baby-sized tub πŸ™‚

The Camera's Eye, Summer portraits2

I love doing baby photos of all ages at The Camera’s Eye, but the ones where they are finally sitting up are the MOST fun.Β Kids this age are giggling, exploring, and ready to roll!

The Camera's Eye, Summer portraits3

She’s grown so much since her newborn shootΒ – it’s incredible! Looking forward to seeing more of her and my other clients for summer photos with The Camera’s Eye πŸ™‚

Owego Free Academy Prom 2016

I am so thrilled to have been the official photographer for the Owego Free Academy prom this year! It took place on Saturday May 21st at Pumpelly House in Owego, so The Camera’s Eye had options for beautiful shots both inside and outside! Read to the end to find out how you can see all OFA prom photos by The Camera’s Eye – but first, a little bit about the planning and set up!

image

The theme was Enchanted Forest, which came off beautifully (even though it was raining all day!) Local fave Tioga Gardens provided the wave petunias and ferns. My neighbor Fuddy Duddy’s provided the lighted trees, which they actually sell in the store, believe it or not!

image

OFA prom is no small endeavor….it’s an all-day event! Kids could stop at a number of locations for photos, including the grounds of the Pumpelly House.

image

I was hired by the 2016 OFA class advisor to shoot outside from 3 to 6, and then indoors for the remainder of the evening. One of the best parts to see was a teacher announcing students at the large red front doors, sharing special recollections about each student. After going through our indoor setup, the couples traipsed through the beautiful gardens out back.

image

After taking photos, the kids took limos and party buses to restaurants, going as far away as the Bartow House in Nichols, the Boat House in Ithaca and the Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen.

image

The prom ends at 2 in the morning, after which the kids head over to the high school for an all night post-prom party with an awesome prizes and entertainment. This party is the result of a ton of work on the part of OFA parents, and it shows! Kids received gift certificates, played everything from glow-in-the-dark golf to casino games, and entered their prize tickets to win dash cams, iPads, GPS units, and more! Then of course there was a full breakfast at 5 am.

image

Can’t forget a photo of myself and my awesome junior helper, who wrangled umbrellas and helped everything run smoothly!

Take a look at ALL photos from last weekend at our client proofing page, using the password ofaprom.

A big thank you to the OFA senior class for letting me capture your prom night!

Newborn Clare at The Camera’s Eye

Check out some photos from a recent newborn session with little Clare at The Camera’s Eye! Clare’s mom Rosey didn’t have any specifics in mind for props or themes, so I just went all-out with some of my current fave newborn setups!

Clare slept for an hour and a half straight, making it easy to get all of the shots we wanted. How cozy does she look??? And her parents decided to order birth announcements to celebrate their new addition πŸ™‚

Thanks to Clare’s parents for bringing herΒ to The Camera’s EyeΒ to capture these memories:) Thinking about bringing your little one in as a newborn? Read more about what a newborn session is like here!
