Love Conquers All: A Wedding with The Camera’s Eye in Rome, PA

This month, I had the pleasure of shooting TWO weddings in a row for The Camera’s Eye. This one, in Rome, PA, was with Stefanie and Mike:

The wedding took place at Stefanie’s dad’s house in the country, where her grandmother, who has passed away, used to live and do the landscaping. This truly made it feel like she still there with the family on the big day, and the WHOLE event had a fun, down-home, country feel.

It was very easy to tell there was a HUGE bond between the bridal party and the bride and groom – all of the speeches were very emotional, and it was overwhelmingly clear that everyone was there out of love.

To match that, it was a do-it-yourself kind of wedding – the bridal bouquets were made that morning. They took a chainsaw into the woods to make some of the centerpieces and the signs. There were maybe 100 guests tops. It was low-stress, a ton of fun, and an intimate and personalized day!

Stefanie’s dress was vintage, and it required Patrick *carrying* her in and out of the creek to get these shots 🙂 Her mom had sewn her into the dress that morning, and when her eyelet broke, I had to sew her a new one to get her back into her dress after these shots!

Besides the overwhelming love you could feel in all aspects of the day, there was a beautiful takeaway message between the bride and groom: love each other’s flaws and celebrate those flaws. The bride has a tattoo, “omnia vincit amor,” (love conquers all things) as a reminder of their triumph over even the difficult times.

Gotta LOVE this sunflower coat, which Stefanie picked up at a thrift store outside of Philly.

And I couldn’t NOT include a picture of the cupcakes, by Dessert First in Waverly, NY. As always, they smelled incredible and tasted just as good 🙂 They were arranged on logs to match the woodsy, outdoor feel of the event.

Part of the reason this wedding was so much fun for The Camera’s Eye to shoot, aside from the wonderful people: I had clients who had complete trust in their vision for their day, and in me! Whatever floats your boat and whatever happens, your wedding WILL work, and I’ll be able to capture the images.

The bride and groom just returned from a hiking and camping honeymoon, which is perfectly fitting 🙂 Thank you to Stefanie, Mike, and their family and friends for sharing their day with me!

Last week’s activities landed the crew at The Camera’s Eye Studio in the vineyards of Glenora Wine Cellars  for the celebration of Kate & Bill’s wedding vows.

Initially greeted by Kathy Marchenese, Wedding Coordinator at Glenora (kathy@glenora.com);  my assistant, Patrick Boyer and I received a complimentary glass of Pomegranate Pizzazz.

So kind of Kathy and very indicative of her nature and business style.  We learned the lay of the land and watched the bridal party rehearse under the arbor that overlooked the grape vines and beautful Seneca Lake.

The next day, under the heat of an unforgiving sun, the bridal party and guests engaged in a lovely ceremony as Bill and Katy exchanged vows and rings in the late afternoon.

We photographed in the vineyards and off location at an amazing privately-owned waterfall while guests ate gingerly at a wine & cheese tasting on the lawn and then a cocktail hour on a red and turquoise adorned deck overlooking the water.

Later, we joined the guests inside for a red and teal themed reception decorated by an Ithaca florist who grew all her own flowers.  You have to see this bouquet!

Our DJ on the night was Ryan Bombard from Ryan Bombard Entertainment, who entertained quests with his photobooth pictures that were glued into an album for the bride and groom to use as a quest book.  What an great idea!  Of course… we jumped in with our cameras, mexican hats and enormous red sunglasses!  Not exactly work-related, but hey, how could we tell you how fun it was if we didn’t try it?!!

First Bridal Show of 2012!

Tamara & James

Romance images at Hickories Park, Owego, NY

Treat yourself to tropical pineapple, kiwi and star fruit; as well as introduce yourself to two of the craziest wedding photogs in the industry in the Southern Tier of NY… all at the Owego Treadway Inn,  Sunday January 8th, 1 – 4 pm.

The bridal show is titled, “Something Bold,” and you guessed it… the theme is tropical.  We have adorned ourselves in bright orange (the fav color at The Camera’s Eye,  with complimentary hot pink and created a tropical fruit center piece spelling our studio name in sugar-sweet sand, a.k.a. Sugar in the Raw.

If you’re recently engaged, a bridesmaid, or a maid of honor; this is a great opportunity for you to touch &  feel wedding products, learn from seasoned professionals and meet the people behind the name you read about on-line or in the newspaper.

At The Camera’s Eye, this opportunity is more than just wedding photography… it’s about selling a wedding day experience.  As photographers, we are with you more than any other professionals you will hire for your special day.  Most of you see me, with camera in hand, before you have donned those fancy silk undies reading “bride” embroidered on the back and most of you say goodnight to us just before you hire the dj or band for one more beat-thumping hour… it’s just how it goes!

My advice to you… get to know your photographer(s) before you hire them.  Make sure, not only their photo style but their personality will match yours.   Once you have found that connection and you are hiring a true professional… the rest is a walk paradise!  Tropical pun intended!

Hope to see you tomorrow!  Oh, and to match our color theme, we’d like to showcase this Modern Image Album created exclusively for Tamara & James…
